Description
Mk2F DBSO BR Blue/Grey Inter-City SC9703
The British Rail Mk2F DBSO (Driving Brake Standard Open) coach is a specialized variant of the Mk2 series introduced between 1972 and 1975. Designed primarily for push-pull train operations, the DBSO features a driving cab at one end, allowing the train to be controlled from either direction without needing to turn the locomotive. It includes standard-class open seating and a guard’s compartment with brake facilities. Built with a steel body and enhanced safety features, the Mk2F DBSO improved operational flexibility and efficiency on British Rail’s regional and commuter services, playing a crucial role in modernising train operations during the 1970s and beyond.
