The British Rail Mk2F DBSO (Driving Brake Standard Open) coach is a specialized variant of the Mk2 series introduced between 1972 and 1975. Designed primarily for push-pull train operations, the DBSO features a driving cab at one end, allowing the train to be controlled from either direction without needing to turn the locomotive. It includes standard-class open seating and a guard’s compartment with brake facilities.
