The British Rail Mk2F Tourist Second Open (TSO) coach is part of the Mk2 series, produced between 1972 and 1975. The Mk2F introduced enhanced safety features and improved passenger comfort over earlier variants. The TSO variant features an open-plan second-class seating layout, designed to maximise passenger capacity while maintaining comfort. With a robust steel body, improved suspension, and better soundproofing, the Mk2F TSO offered a smooth and quiet ride on British mainline services. These coaches were widely used in intercity and regional trains, representing a key development in British railway rolling stock during the 1970s.
