WWII 80th Strmlnd Coronation 6247 ‘City of Liverpool’ LMS
The LMS Coronation class was built between 1937 and 1948 as the LMS works in Crewe, during this time 38 locomotives were constructed. All the locomotives built up to 1939 were built with a streamlined casing, However, the added weight gain and maintenance difficulties verses the benefits gained at high speed was too high so the next batch of locomotives built in 1938 were built without the casing. The class was withdrawn from service between 1962 and 1964 with only three remaining in preservation.
